Ask A Naturalist

ASK A NATURALIST

We are fortunate to have a talented crew at the Museum and want to share our knowledge.  From wildlife experts, conservationists, environmentalists, to preservationists and natural historians, we have you covered.

Are you curious about a bug, plant, bird, or other intriguing objects you have seen while exploring outdoors? Discover fun facts about it by asking one of our team members.

Here’s how it works:

  • Email a photo and your questions to pr@tallahasseemuseum.org
  • Be as specific as possible
    • Size
    • Color
    • Shape
    • Behavior
    • Location
    • Time of day

We will share responses and your requests to our social media pages. Please follow us at @tallahasseemuseum on Facebook and Instagram.

Kelly C. asked a naturalist.
“Found this big moth on my walk off Rankin Rd. around pm, possibly injured acting ‘drunk’, about the size of a US dollar bill.”

Tina S.  saw this turtle at the park on her morning walk in North Georgia and asked us to help identify it.

Freddie found this snake outside his porch in Leon County,  It disappeared into the brush before someone told him it was there and could see it for himself.  While he felt assured it is a type of Garden snake – – he thought the snake’s head looks like a viper and asked us to help him identify it.
