Start off a great Jazz and Blues Festival weekend with good eatin’ for a good cause!
On Saturday, April 25th, between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. enjoy a hearty, outdoor meal at our Pioneer Breakfast on the 1880’s-style farmstead. This down-home fundraiser features Register’s freshly grilled sausage, scrambled eggs, pancakes and real Bradley’s Country Store grits. The Tallahassee Jazz & Blues Festival is an educational event held on-site at the Tallahassee Museum. Its
primary purpose is to provide our members and visitors with an additional educational and cultural experience to
supplement our ongoing mission. The Jazz & Blues Festival enables our visitors to experience our cultural
heritage in this American musical art form, including Dixieland, swing, contemporary jazz, and more.
At the time this event was founded, there was no place in our region for families to experience jazz and blues
music. It appeared to be an endangered part of our local culture, and the event was begun to both help preserve
this music, and to present it in an environment where our members and visitors could enjoy it with their entire
The Jazz & Blues Festival has assisted in preserving this vital musical heritage for Tallahassee, in a similar way
as it has helped to preserve the endangered red wolves, the Florida Panther, or the restored African-American
schoolhouse. It is the oldest continuous Jazz & Blues Festival in this area, and one of the oldest continuous
musical events in this area regardless of genre.
