CANCELLED – Sacred Harps

October 13, 2018 @ 9:30 am – 2:30 pm
The unique sounds of shape note hymn singing will ring out from  the historic Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church.  Singers will come from Florida, Georgia, and Alabama to join in the living tradition of this beautiful form of community hymn singing.  The tradition of Sacred Harp singing is described as “democratic” as all who wish take turns choosing and leading hymns. There is no instrumental accompaniment. The singers sit in a “hollow square,” and anyone who comes to sing or listen is very welcome. Come and listen for a few minutes, or grab an extra song book and join in! The sing will begin at 9:30am, break at noon, then resume from 1:00pm-2:30pm.
