Preschool Manager (Full-Time w/ Benefits)

The Tallahassee Museum’s highly respected and nationally accredited preschool is seeking an experienced and qualified Preschool Manager. This individual will build upon the program’s 50 year history and continue its leadership in museum-based, experiential preschool education. The Preschool program currently offers classes to children ages 3.5- 5 years, and operates from 7:30am-5:30pm with a full-day program and a half-day program. The program also offers a summer camp program as well. The Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten Program is offered 3 days a week to both full-day and half-day classes. Our program gives the growing child the opportunity to develop an understanding of and appreciation for their ever expanding world through nature and history-based play and hands-on experiences in a 52 acre setting. Lessons are delivered in unique settings from the historic farmstead to hardwood hammocks to dry sinkholes, and cypress swamps, as well as in the classroom. Candidates should be energetic, passionate, creative and committed to instilling learning habits and developing the physical, mental, and social skills of our program’s children. The Preschool Manager will exhibit a willingness to achieve what the excellence of our program requires, from assessing state test scores, to crouching low to the ground to building tiny houses from sticks and leaves.

Candidates must possess the required Director Credentials per the Florida Department of Children and Families. Preference will be given to candidates who have direct experience in applying for and maintaining national preschool accreditation standards.

Tree to Tree Adventures Course Guide (Part-time)

Position provides supervision, guidance, assistance and exceptional educational and recreational experiences to individuals and groups of people as they participate on the Tree to Tree Adventures course.  Skills in climbing, belaying, working with ropes, and weather observation preferred.  Must be comfortable, able, and/or willing to operate at heights and perform rescues and assist functions associated with the course. Must be able to lift at least 50lbs. Must be able to speak effectively to different ages and in front of small to large groups and able to assess and diffuse difficult situations. Must be able to work and communicate effectively as a team member.  Possess the ability to work long hours and irregular shifts outdoors, including weekends, evenings and holidays as needed and scheduled.  Contributes to an environment where customer service is a high priority.

Birthday Party Programmer (Part-time; as needed)

Seeking a high-energy, enthusiastic team player responsible for implementing birthday party programs that incorporate the mission and philosophy of the Museum. Primary responsibilities include: setting up and implementing activities for birthday parties, greeting party participants and assisting them to the party site, facilitating fun and memorable experiences for guests.  Requires a pleasant disposition, ability to work independently, excellent communication, and customer service skills. May also be working hands-on with Museum’s teaching collection of animals. Hours vary based on scheduled parties. On-site Membership Sales Associates (Part-time)

The Museum is looking for outgoing candidates to join our on-site membership sales team! Hours are flexible, but sales associate position is required to work mostly on weekends and some holidays (approx. 10 – 20 hours a month). Commissioned-based. Previous sales experience preferred. Café Shift Leader (Part-time)

The Tallahassee Museum’s Trail Break Cafe offers a one of kind employment! Situated in the heart of a history and science museum, the cafe offers guests a variety of meal options. This position oversees the opening and closing of the Cafe, along with following all food safety guidelines. This position tracks and maintains product and supply inventory, along with making orders as necessary. In addition, the Trail Break Cafe Shift Leader supervises the staff schedules and support the Cafe Manager in arranging staff needs for the cafe, catering, and rentals. This position will also assist the Cafe Manager in various duties of rentals and catering as needed. Café Assistant (Part-time)

We are looking for an energetic person who is excited about food service to join our Trail Break Café staff! Primary responsibilities include food production, maintaining impeccable food handing quality, preparing for catered events, working catering events as needed, and operating a point of sales system. Candidate must have outstanding customer service skills, the ability to multitask, excellent communication, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. Estimated hours are up to 29 hours per week, MUST be available during the week, weekends and some evenings may be required as well. Visitor Services Retail Team Member (Part-time, up to 24 hours per week)

We are looking for outgoing energetic people who are excited about enhancing our visitors’ experience through the sale of tickets and merchandise on our Visitor Services Retail Team. Primary responsibilities include direct interaction with our visitors and museum staff both in person and on the phone, maintaining impeccable customer service quality while selling tickets and merchandise using a point of sale system, as well as providing information about the museum and upcoming events utilizing the museum’s website and scheduling software and maintaining the visually appealing and inviting appearance of the Museum Store. Candidate must have outstanding customer service skills, retail experience, the ability to multitask, excellent communication, strong computer skills and enjoy working in a fast paced environment as a part of a team. Estimated hours are up to but no more than 24 hours per week, must be available on weekends, and some evenings may be required as well. Responsibilities:
• Manages Preschool’s budget and financial success in order for the school to contribute to the program’s sustainability.
• Hires, supervises, coaches and trains staff
• Operates the school according to state licensing standards and within the mission and policies of the Tallahassee Museum.
• Assists teachers with development and execution of curriculum and activities that contribute to the growth, education, and development of the children in our school.
● Communicates and meets regularly with parents, Museum staff and community members.
• Purchases supplies, equipment, food, etc. while operating within budgetary guidelines.
• Maintains personnel required credentials and in-service hours. Stays abreast of best early childhood practices and academic benchmarks.
• Ensures the safety of the children in our care.
